Sunday 2 July 2017 was my first experience of an open day at Glåmdal Paintball Club. By pure chance, my roommate came across paintball online a couple of weeks before this, so we started looking for a course near where we live (Skedsmo). We were actually not aware that paintball was something you could do here in Norway, we had only heard about it abroad. But our dear friend Google helped us find Skarnes and Glåmdal Paintball Club just 45 minutes from Oslo, and FINN assisted with clothes, marker and protection - Youtube with thousands of videos from training and Millennium.

The reception we received on our first day at the Glåmdal track was enormously positive! Players with a lot of knowledge and big hearts met us! They helped us with everything from settings on the markers to technical advice - but most of all perhaps understanding and humility about the fact that we didn't know anything about paintball. No question was embarrassing; we felt accepted and as part of the environment already after the first day. We were even offered a place on a team that trains there permanently last summer and then participated in our very first NXS (Gjøvik) at the end of the season where we got 4th place. This year we will play on the same team in the 2nd division, but then of course the whole season and all NXS, as well as the NM. As a thank you for everything the members of Glåmdal Paintball Club have done for us, I joined the board now in 2018 to be able to give something back!

Being part of the fantastic environment at Glåmdal Paintball Club gives me an insane amount; both self-confidence, self-esteem, a sense of mastery and acceptance in an environment that takes care of everyone. With us, everyone is welcome, no matter what! And as a girl myself, I just have to say to all other girls out there; paintball is not dangerous - just crazy fun! Come visit us and find out for yourself, right?!
